Chapter 12 – The Happily Ever After
Ding-dong. Ding-dong. Ding-dong. “Will one of you boys please answer the door?” the Mrs. of the House called down from the baby’s room.
The oldest opened the front door. There stood a little white dog holding Poetry by the scruff of her neck. Gabriel laid her down gently as the little boy called up to his mother, “Mom! A little white dog has brought Poetry home!”
Poetry began meowing softly and then purring as Gabriel set her down again. Then she began rubbing up against Gabriel’s face. “Look, Mom, she’s thanking the little white dog. Can we keep him, please Mom, please.” The other two little boys had come to the front door and seen everything and joined their pleas to their brother’s.
Their mother sighed. The three little boys held their breath and looked at her with hopeful eyes. “Well…..I guess it’s unanimous then.”
Gabriel sat down, wagged his tail, and grinned from ear to ear. He was home, at last.
